No matter what anyone does, they all want to feel safe. Unfortunately, it is an unpredictable and sometimes scary world, especially in an urban city. Alleyways and their ominous shadows hide unknown dangers, and even the blinking streetlight cannot promise safety beyond the reach of the fluorescent light. What makes matters worse is the inability to do anything to completely stop it, not the way the world is right now. However, there are avenues of approach city governments can take to keep as many people safe as possible.
One such way are citywide security services. These differ from regular police forces, however. In a time when law enforcement has diverging opinions, security services do not warrant similar criticisms. Police have broad authority and can be carried away, but security services are loyal to their clientele and the building they are in charge of protecting. They have much more limited powers and their primary concern is keeping their immediate area safe. The benefit to this is if something unfortunate were to happen on those grounds, security services would be able to quickly respond and provide appropriate aid. Police, while heroes in their own right, can take too long to respond or get there, which is plenty of time for the danger to be exacerbated. With these services spread throughout the city, the city would be able to protect a wider range of areas and can truly make that place a safe space.
Security services also can be quite helpful guides, which can be very important for safety as well. Getting lost is scary, and coupled with a city environment can be outright terrifying. Security services, as part of their training, know every inch of their building and the general layout of surrounding ones, so they are able to point lost visitors in the right direction quite accurately. This eliminates going down streets that are considered dangerous and avoids the sketchy areas of the locale.
